Levi Johnson Levi Johnson – SF Rec & Park Employee of the Winter Quarter Program Coordinator Levi Johnson is a quiet force at Upper Noe and beyond. Upper Noe is his office location and he shares oversight duties with facilities coordinator Cheryl Woltjen but his job takes him to every corner of the city. Starting in Adult Recreation five years ago when he joined Rec & Park, Levi moved into Adult Fitness and then into Health and Wellness. He is now acting supervisor for Upper Noe and Eureka Valley rec centers. Recently, he distinguished himself further by creating a fitness program for Rec & Park employees. This was far more complicated than anyone outside the department would ever imagine because of competition with the public for time and space at facilities. His perseverance paid off. The recognition is well deserved. Originally, from the sunshine state, Levi has been sharing his sunny personality with us at Upper Noe since joining Rec & Park. He holds a bachelor in Physical Ed from Florida State University and a Masters in Sport Management from University of San Francisco. He originally intended on a career in pro sports. A year with the Houston Texans changed his mind. "It’s not as glamorous as people think it is. I’d rather be a fan." The Health and Wellness program is a new experience for Levi. For the first time, he is working with children. And that is what he finds unique about Upper Noe. “Lots of little ones here, that’s for sure. Up to about kindergarten or first grade. Then we don’t see those kids anymore because they’ve moved.” Though Upper Noe does not yet have any Health and Wellness programming, Levi just started an obesity program at Martin Luther King Jr. Pool. Upper Noe is A great community, according to Levi. Neighbors are more involved with this rec center than at other communities, and classes fill up. “If the community wasn’t so involved we wouldn’t know what classes to offer.”
