2021 March News

Friends of Upper Noe Recreation Center Posted on March 7, 2021 by Chris FaustApril 20, 2024

Upper Noe continues to offer outside recreation and relaxation even as our programming staff is away providing day care and learning center support at other sites. Perhaps by summer they will return. We are grateful for our outstanding gardening and maintenance crews who continue to keep the place neat and inviting. We appreciate all of you who pitch in and pick up when you visit to ensure that the next visitor has a pleasant experience. Our park is the jewel of the neighborhood and it doesn’t disappoint. Hopefully, you are able to make good use of it.

Spring Sports Are Back

With San Francisco in the COVID Red Tier, league contact sports are back this spring for youth and adults. Rec and Park’s “Let the Kids Play” program provides a fast track back to spring activities by providing field space to leagues. Learn more about this here.

Rec and Park has partnered with local youth sports leagues to provide a selection of contact sports activities. From April 10 through Memorial Day, a seven-week spring season will offer soccer, baseball, softball, flag football, and lacrosse. Note that San Francisco Youth Baseball League registration will close on Monday, March 8. Also, to reduce COVID exposure, players may only participate in one out of school time program. Learn more and sign up here.

A limited number of adult leagues will also be able to use the fields. More information will follow with the City’s new Health Order, expected in early-March. To stay up to date on adult leagues, click here.

Youth baseball practice and games at Upper Noe are likely. The diamond is in great shape.

Spring Recreation Programming

Registration for spring recreation classes is now open! Virtual recreation programs for youth and adults this spring along with some in-person youth programming are happening at the Randall Museum, Harvey Milk Photo Center, Sharon Art Studio, and the Golden Gate Park Senior Center.  Learn more and sign up here.

Girls In Sports Survey

We want to help more girls get involved in sports. So, in the spirit of Women’s History Month, we ask that you take a few minutes to answer the girls in sports survey. This anonymous 3-minute survey for parents/caregivers of girls under 18 who live or play in San Francisco will help guide Rec and Park as they make programming choices. To take the survey, click here.
